Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met with Hezbollah Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem in Beirut to discuss cooperation and regional stability. Qassem expressed gratitude for Iran’s support and reiterated Hezbollah’s commitment to expelling Israeli occupiers from Lebanon.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Lebanon during his meeting with Hezbollah Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem in Beirut.

Araghchi emphasized Iran’s prioritization of relations with Lebanon during the Wednesday meeting.

The minister stated that Iran is prepared to support Lebanon in economic, political, and social matters, with a foundation of mutual respect.

Sheikh Qassem expressed appreciation for Iran’s unwavering support for the Lebanese people and Hezbollah, as noted in the movement’s official statement.

Qassem assumed leadership of Hezbollah in 2024 following the assassination of its former leader, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, by Israeli forces.

He also highlighted Iran’s constructive role in the region and its steadfast backing of the Palestinian cause.

The Lebanese resistance leader informed Araghchi about Hezbollah’s ongoing efforts to restore Lebanon’s stability and sovereignty.

Qassem reiterated Hezbollah’s dedication to expelling Israeli forces from Lebanese territory, according to the statement.

Despite the November 2024 ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah, Israeli forces continue to maintain a presence in five areas of Lebanon, carrying out regular military strikes.

During the meeting, which also included Iran’s Ambassador to Beirut, Mojtaba Amani, the two sides discussed the latest regional developments.

Araghchi arrived in Beirut on Tuesday and met with several top officials, including President Joseph Aoun, Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, and Foreign Minister Youssef Raggi.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Araghchi announced that Iranian companies are ready to contribute to Lebanon’s reconstruction efforts.

Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon have inflicted extensive damage and destruction.

In a Wednesday post on X, Araghchi reaffirmed Iran’s full support for Lebanon’s stability, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.

“Our goal and hope is to open a new chapter in our centuries-long ties, built on mutual respect and shared interests,” he stated.
